Chicken Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Topping:
- 1 chicken breast (boneless and skinless)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
For the Pizza:
- 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (tomato-based or white sauce)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1/4 cup red onion (thinly sliced)
- 1/4 cup bell peppers (sliced, any color)
- 1/4 cup sweet corn (optional, for added sweetness)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Chicken:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Season the chicken breast with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 75°C or 165°F).
- Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes, then slice it into thin strips or bite-sized pieces.
2. Prepare the Pizza Dough:
- Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. If using store-bought dough, follow the package instructions for any pre-baking steps.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a lightly greased baking tray or pizza stone.
3. Assemble the Pizza:
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the base of the dough. You can use tomato sauce for a classic pizza or opt for a white sauce or pesto for a different twist.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the sauce, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Evenly distribute the cooked chicken pieces on top of the cheese.
- Add the red onion, bell peppers, and sweet corn, or any other vegetables you like.
4. Bake the Pizza:
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
- Keep an eye on the pizza towards the end of the baking time to ensure it doesn’t burn.
5. Garnish and Serve:
- Once the pizza is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two.
- Optionally, garnish with fresh basil leaves for added flavor and a pop of color.
- Slice and serve your delicious homemade chicken pizza!
Tips:
- Make your dough: If you have time, making your own pizza dough from scratch can really elevate your pizza. There are plenty of simple recipes available that just require flour, yeast, salt, sugar, and water.
- Chicken variation: You can marinate the chicken in BBQ sauce or use grilled chicken for a different flavor profile. Shredded rotisserie chicken also works great.
- Other toppings: Feel free to add mushrooms, olives, or even pineapple if you like a sweet and savory flavor.
- Cheese: Experiment with different cheese combinations such as provolone, gouda, or feta for a more complex flavor.
Enjoy your Homemade Chicken Pizza—a perfect dinner or weekend treat!
